How to audit your social media in 3 simple steps
1. Complete a SWOT analysis of each social media network you use.
1. Complete a SWOT analysis of each social media network you use.

A SWOT analysis makes you look at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of each platform. It will help you work out if the platform is worth the investment of you time and give you a clear vision for what strategies will help you reach your goals.
We've created templates for you below. They're even in PowerPoint so that you can present your findings to the team or brainstorm with them together!
2. At the top of the form place your mission for the platform. Then start to brainstorm about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats you see for each network. This is a helpful activity if you are trying to decide if you should start a new social media platform or if you want to reignite the flame in an already existing one.
These questions might help you out when auditing:
Have I connected this account to our other accounts?
Have I built a community on this platform? Do I engage with them regularly? Do I share and comment on their content?
Do I have high quality content?
Do I have reviews and testimonials (if applicable)?
Do I have a strong following or do I need campaigns to build it?
Do I have a clean URL for this platform?
Could I gain user generated content and what would that involve?
Do I have time for content creation or should I focus on content curation?
Do I run any promotions? Do I realistically have time for promotions?
3. Based on this audit you should have a list full of opportunities which you can weigh up to create strategies. Choose the opportunities you can see are realistic against the weaknesses or threats you identified. Write down your goals and reasoning for choosing this opportunity, select your target audience and start putting them in motion!
